We care deeply about our protecting our environment. Below are some initiatives we implement at TrekSet.

Recycled Materials

Our Packing Cubes are made from Recycled Polyester (rPET) which is basically the cooler, eco-friendlier cousin of traditional polyester. Imagine taking all those plastic bottles and fishing nets from landfills and the ocean, and giving them a makeover into something super useful. That's what rPET is all about.

Here's the deal: we take used plastic (think soda bottles, packaging, even your old clothes), and through a recycling process, turn it into new polyester fiber. This is then woven into fabric for a whole new life as our Packing Cubes. It's a bit like upcycling on a grand scale.

What makes rPET the talk of the town is its environmental creds. By recycling plastic, we're cutting down on waste and reducing our reliance on petroleum, a non-renewable resource required for
making virgin polyester. Plus, the process of making rPET uses less water and energy compared to producing new polyester, which is a win-win for our planet.

So, you're not just on trend. You're part of a movement that's about looking good while doing good for the earth.

Silicone

Silicone, that durable and flexible material found in everything from kitchen utensils to medical devices and of course our Reusable Coloring Mats, doesn't have to end up in a landfill when it's lived its first life. Instead, it can be given a whole new chapter through recycling.

Silicone recycling isn't as straightforward as tossing it into your blue bin. It requires a specialized process, because silicone is a bit of a stubborn material—it doesn't break down or melt away as easily as other materials.

The process typically involves grinding down the silicone into smaller pieces. These bits can then be repurposed into new products. Think of it as breaking down a Lego set to build something new and equally awesome. Some innovative methods even involve breaking down the silicone into its basic components, which can then be reused to make new silicone products, reducing the need for new raw materials.

One of the coolest parts? Recycled silicone can be used for a variety of applications, from industrial to consumer goods. It's a testament to the material's versatility and durability.

However, the trick is in finding a recycling facility that can handle silicone, as not all recycling centers are equipped to deal with its unique properties.

To recycle your TrekSet Silicone Reusable Coloring Mat, search for the Silicone Recycling Plant closest to you. Too far away? We'll do it for you! Send your Coloring Mat back to us and we will recycle it for you.

100% Biodegradable Polymailer

When you receive your order (yay!) you'll be getting it in our 100% Biodegradable Mailer. These mailers are made from materials that can completely break down and decompose, often into CO2, water, and biomass, when they're tossed into the right composting conditions.

What's really cool about them is how they're stepping up to tackle the massive problem of plastic waste. Traditional shipping materials can be pretty tough on our planet, taking hundreds of years to degrade and sometimes leaving harmful residues behind. Biodegradable polymailers, on the other hand, are made with the earth in mind, often from plant-based or other natural materials that bacteria and other decomposers love to snack on.

But here's the deal: to make the most of these eco-friendly champs, it's important to dispose of them correctly, ideally in a compost setup that supports biodegradation. They might not break down as intended in a regular landfill, so a little extra effort is needed to ensure they complete their eco-friendly mission.

It's all about making thoughtful choices that benefit our planet, and these polymailers are a step in the right direction.

Research and Development

We are constantly looking for ways for our products to be as sustainable as possible. In fact, a product we intended on launching with is still in development phase as we know it can be done more sustainably - we just need to figure it out!

With every product we launch, we commit to ensuring it is made with the environment in mind.
